Would someone please arrest Joe the Plumber?

From Politicusua

Joe the Plumber (Samuel Wurzelbacher) channeled his inner Jared Loughner this week by declaring on his web site that the most important reason for having guns is to hunt down politicians. On his Joe for America web page, he gave a list of reasons for why guns are needed, ending with this commentary:
And – this is the most important one:
Guns are mostly for hunting down politicians who would actively seek to take your freedoms and liberty away from you.
Now Joe the Plumber does not specify by name which politicians should be hunted down, although he does say to Google “Hitler, Mao, Kim Jung Il, Castro [and] Stalin” just for starters.  His defenders may argue that his comments would only apply to tyrannical dictators, but the fact is Joe the Plumber is talking about guns in America, so it stands to reason that the politicians he thinks need to be hunted down are American politicians.

This sort of insurrectionist rhetoric has become all too familiar in the modern pro-gun movement in the United States. This is the very rhetoric that is used to justify political assassination attempts like Jared Loughner’s deranged attempt to murder Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in 2011.

Now, again, some defenders of Joe the Plumber may dismiss his comments as innocuous, saying that in context he is referring to shooting dictators not elected leaders. However, that would be overlooking Joe the Plumber’s view that Obama is acting as a lawless tyrant and a dictator. In that context, it is not much of a stretch to argue that Samuel Wurzelbacher is implicitly condoning hunting down the President of the United States. While Joe the Plumber probably has no intention of actually shooting a public official, his irresponsible rhetoric could embolden a mentally unstable right-winger to feel justified in shooting the President or another elected politician.

Right-wing defenders of unrestricted gun rights have long entertained delusions of fighting off government forces in an epic struggle for liberty. In their absurd guerrilla fantasies, they draw analogies between modern America and Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia to validate their insurrectionist paranoia and to paint themselves as defenders of freedom. However, when people like

Joe the Plumber argue that the purpose for having guns is to hunt down democratically elected politicians, it is he and his followers that are the greatest threat to our freedom, rather than the politicians he believes should be targeted for assassination.

Thanks John and Skanky.  This is what you have created.

Sarah Palin's unforgivable remarks at the NRA convention

She is also getting lots of deserved blowback from the following:

American Conservative

The Federalist

National Review

Deacon Greg Kandra

National Catholic Reporter

Public Catholic

Wonkette does a brilliant job at poking fun at her

Unfortunately Sarah will not back down from her comments

"Would I make it again? Why wouldn't I, yeah, absolutely. Terrorists who want to annihilate Americans, innocent Americans, our children - whatever it takes to stop them. If I were in charge, I'd be stoppin' em," she said.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the CPAC does not invite her to their next convention.

Hey look at me tour stops in Indiana today

I feel sorry for the band Alabama and Sara Evans getting upstaged by Skanky.

The FEC is referring to a refund of travel expenses regarding the NRA.  You can read about it here.

This is great news!  Now that her PAC is really being scrutinized, maybe the following scandals will come to light:

Babygate
Housegate
Dairygate
Taxgagte
Prisongate

Off topic but one thing I noticed in the pic of Sarah I posted is her teeth some too perfectly straight.  like they are dentures or something.

Let's talk about gun control

I apologize for being tardy on this.  I was traveling on Friday the day the shooting occured and did not get home until late Sunday evening.  Then Monday and Tuesday I had errands and other things to take care of.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and anyone affected by it.  When I heard the news on the radio I was so upset I had to pull over for a few minutes and collect my thoughts.

This shit needs to stop.  Now.

For the record I am not against owning a gun.  I grew up in a house where there were guns.  They were only used for hunting, target shooting, and shooting vermin that were a pain in the ass.  My dad taught me that guns are not toys, but weapons which could injure or kill.

In addition to background checks a gun owner applicant should also supply three references who can vouch for their character and sanity.  If Adam Lanza who was a loner and had no friends had to do this no way would he be able to buy a gun.

Yes certain guns should be banned.  You do not need an assault rifle to hunt Bambi.  Also magazines should be banned too.  In fact there should be a limit on how many guns you can own.  All you really need is a handgun to defend yourself and a shotgun for hunting.  That's it.  Assault rifes belong in a war, not a school.

The other part of the problem is our attitude towards mental illness.  It's disgraceful the way we take care of the mentally ill.  Adam probably had no access to getting care.  If mental health treatment is not in the AHCA, then it needs to be added.

Since the shooting people like Ted Nugent, John McCain who has recieved more money from the NRA than any other Senator have chosen to remain silent and refused to go on the Sunday morning talk shows.

And then there are stupid people like Sarah Palin who can't keep her mouth shut.  Sarah you are part of the problem.  You glorify guns and blood.  And your actions caused the death of seven people in Tucson early last year.  Fuck you!

President Obama had to be the comforter in chief again.  More times than he probably cares to.  But he did a good job as always.

If a teacher can rush a shooter with an assault rifle, then a cowardly pussy like John McCain should say FUCK YOU to the NRA.

Thoughts on the Aurora CO shooting

My prayers and thoughts go out to the victims, their families, the shooter, and his family in Friday's shooting at a movie theater in Aurora CO.  It kind of hit home for me as I have family and friends in the Denver area.

Once again this nation proves that is lacks in providing decent mental health care  The shooter obviously had issues as he paraded around after the shooting claiming to be the Joker.  You can thank St. Ronnie for that as during his regime he cut funding for mental health care.

When will this country learn?

Now my thoughts on guns.

I support gun ownership.  I grew up in a household that had guns.  But my dad taught my siblings and me that guns were weapons, not toys and can kill someone.  Unfortunately a lot of people out there are not responsible like my dad.  That's why I favor background checks and also mental health check for anyone buying a gun.

We all know Sarah Palin loves guns

And she is a big supporter of the NRA and the 2nd amendment.

What IF Shawn Christy or Kristy Patullo made their way to Alaska and shot Sarah, paralyzing her
from the neck down.  Would she love guns as much?

Or if a deranged gunman walked into a movie theater and shot Track, Bristol, Willow, and/or Piper?

Remember she is a hypocrite when it comes to abstinence, earmarks, spending, and abortion.

Reason #76 not to vote for Sarah Palin for anything

She loves guns waaayyy too much

From Ontheissues.org

Sarah Palin stuck to her guns on guns, in her first major public appearance since Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was critically wounded and six people were killed at a Tucson campaign event. Palin was criticized after the shootings for having published campaign literature that marked some Democratic districts, including Giffords's, with crosshairs, but she pushed back, saying Republicans were being unfairly blamed for the act of a crazed shooter.

Asked if she would support efforts to restrict semiautomatic weapons or multi-bullet clips, like the clips used in the Tucson shooting, Palin responded, "There are already on the books many gun control measures and I do support those that are on the books. I do not support taking away more freedom from the good guy. The people who have no intention of using that weapon to harm another person so, no additional gun control measures could be supported." She added, "Prayers should continue for the full recovery of Gabby Giffords and others who were involved."

Not far from home, near the Talkeetna Mountains, I learned to hunt. Traveling on skis and snowshoes, we harvested ptarmigan and big game. I love meat. I eat pork chops, thick bacon burgers, and the seared fatty edges of a medium-well-done steak. But I especially love moose and caribou. I always remind people from outside our state that there's plenty of room for all Alaska's animals--right next to the mashed potatoes.

In our northern state, with some communities located hundreds of miles from big grocery stores, Alaskans have for generations lived on local, organic protein sources. Anti-hunting groups are clueless about this. It always puzzled me how some of the people who think killing and eating animals in the wild is somehow cruel have no problem buying dead animals at the grocery store, wrapped in cellophane instead of fur.

The Heath house in Wasilla sat near woodlands of birch, willow, and spruce. The woods were a wilderness playground--the kind of place where kids play out the imaginative adventures of childhood.

In both summer and winter, most of the family's activitie took place outdoors. Sarah said that she appreciates the many outdoor adventures she had as a child. Fitness was a big part of family life. "My parents jumped on the bandwagon of the '70s running craze," she said. The whole family ran together, competing in five- and ten-kilometer races throughout the summer.

When the family wasn't running or hiking, it was hunting or fishing. "We could literally go hunting out our back door," [Sarah's brother] Chuck Jr. said. Sarah shot her first rabbit at age ten not far from the back porch. In her teens, she hunted caribou with her father. The family's freezer was always full of fish and game. Chuck Jr. said he didn't eat a beef steak until he was a senior in high school. Gardening helped fill the family larder.

Hunts and fishes, as did her father

Her father shot the grizzly bear whose hide is now draped over the sofa in her office. She, too, hunts and fishes. She runs marathons. She delivered her fifth child during her first term as governor. They call her husband, the reigning champion in the annual Iron Dog snowmachine race, First Dude.

Though indisputably Alaskan, she rose to prominence by bucking the state’s rigid Republican hierarchy, impressing voters more with gumption, warmth and charm than an established record in government.

Hunts as much as she can; freezer-full of wild game
Like many Alaskans, Gov. Sarah Palin is a lifelong hunter and strong proponent of Second Amendment rights. A longtime member of the National Rifle Association, she told USA Today when she was running for governor as a Republican in 2006 that “We hunt as much as we can, and I’m proud to say our freezer is full of wild game we harvested here in Alaska.” Palin’s favorite food? “Moose stew after a day of snowmachining,” she said.

Supports ending D.C.’s 32-year-old ban on handguns
Governor Sarah Palin today lauded the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision upholding the right of Americans to own guns for self-defense, hunting and other purposes. The high court’s 5-4 ruling in District of Columbia vs. Heller affirmed gun rights by striking down the District’s 32-year-old ban on handguns.
“This decision is a victory for all Alaskans and individual Americans. The right to own guns and use them responsibly is something I and many other Alaskans cherish,“ Governor Palin said. ”I applaud the Court for standing up for the Constitution and the right of Americans to keep and bear arms.“

The state of Alaska in February joined a multi-state amicus brief written by the state of Texas in support of the Second Amendment right of individual Americans to bear arms.

Lifelong NRA member & champion of right to bear arms
Governor Sarah Palin announced the State of Alaska will join the multi-state amicus brief authored by the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment right of individual Americans to bear arms. The Texas amicus brief in the case Washington, D.C. v. Heller will be filed by February 11, 2008.

Governor Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, has long been a champion of the constitutional right to bear arms, as well as a proponent of gun safety programs for Alaska’s youth.

“I am proud to join the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment,” Governor Palin said. “We need to send a strong message that law-abiding citizens have a right to own firearms, for personal protection, for hunting and for any other lawful purpose.”

Sarah loves guns so much she spoke at the NRA Convention for free yet took money from religious and pro-life groups. She loves guns more than she loves people.
