GOP Congressman Steve Pearce needs to be voted out of office

A Republican member of Congress says in a recently released book that a wife is to "voluntarily submit" to her husband, but that it doesn't make her inferior to him.

Rep. Steve Pearce's (R-N.M.) memoir, "Just Fly the Plane, Stupid!" was released last month. Its publication -- and his acknowledgment in the book of the controversial nature of the submission debate -- come as the Republican Party reevaluates how it talks to and about women.

In the book, Pearce recounts his rise to owning an oil-field service company and winning election to Congress. In the book, the Vietnam War veteran says that both the military chain of command and the family unit need a structure in which everyone plays his or her role.
He said that, in his family's experience, this meant that his wife, Cynthia, would submit to him and he would lead.

"The wife is to voluntarily submit, just as the husband is to lovingly lead and sacrifice," he writes, citing the Bible. "The husband’s part is to show up during the times of deep stress, take the leadership role and be accountable for the outcome, blaming no one else."

Pearce, who is Baptist, emphasizes repeatedly in the chapter that submission doesn't mean inferiority but rather that husbands and wives play different roles. He also says it doesn't mean his wife doesn't have a say in major decisions.

"The wife’s submission is not a matter of superior versus inferior; rather, it is self-imposed as a matter of obedience to the Lord and of love for her husband," he writes.

Pearce recognizes in the book that he's delving into controversial territory. He recounts the time his wife broached the subject of submission with him, saying he cringed at the conversation.

"The principle is among the most controversial of all directives coming from the Bible. Critics abound, both Christian and non-Christian," he writes, adding: "Many of my friends dealt with the directive by ignoring it..."

In the Bible, the book of Ephesians says wives should "submit to their husbands in everything" (according to the New International Version). Pearce's book doesn't quote this verse, but it does criticize men who use this passage in order to "bully their wives and families." He says that "authoritarian control is not given to the husband."

Democrats in recent years have repeatedly attacked Republicans for their views on and comments about women's issues, particularly when it comes controversial comments made by GOP candidates. Mitt Romney suffered from one of the biggest so-called "gender gaps" in recent history in the 2012 election -- an election in which two GOP Senate candidates might have cost their party a seat because of comments about rape and pregnancy.

Since that election, GOP leaders have sought to coach their members on how to be more sensitive when talking about women's issues.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, the political left attacked a statement similar to Pearce's from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (R). It was revealed at the time that Huckabee had signed on to a 1998 Southern Baptist Convention statement that a wife should "submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband."

Pearce is a back-bench member of Congress from southern New Mexico's 2nd congressional district, but he formerly served as an assistant GOP whip.
He has served two separate stints in Congress since he was first elected in 2002. He also ran for Senate in both 2002 and 2008, losing the latter race to now-Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.).
In recent years, Pearce has distanced himself from GOP leadership, becoming one of the few GOP House members to vote against John Boehner for speaker. He has since said it was his most popular vote ever.

If Pearce's wife wants to submit to her husband that's their business but it shouldn't be law.

My thoughts on Track and Britta calling it quits (and there are a lot of them)

As all of you are aware Track and Britta Palin are divorcing.  Can't say that I'm surprised.  Nothing good has ever come out of being married to or breeding with a Heath/Palin.  Ask Levi Johnston and Mike Wooten.  The only one I feel sorry for is Kyla.

Must be a Palin/Heath record for the shortest marriage.  No I take that back...Bristol and Gino's trial marriage was shorter.  The only other political kid's marriage that was that short of is Elliott Roosevelt (son of FDR) and Elizabeth Donner's (January 16, 1932-July 17, 1933).  Back in Elliott's day you had to go to Reno to get a divorce.

I think the marriage was a sham.  Sarah promised they would have a big reception but it never happened. And Britta's comments to Radar Online speaks volumes.  She said she is OK with it.  I doubt she and Track planned to stay married anyway.  Also someone on IM made this comment:

track has never been right in the head. He has this "nervous tick" where he constantly make a noise and facial expressions, and its just got worse and worse over time. he is a nightmare to be married to.

If that is really true then I hope Track has supervised visitation.  I don't know if he is completely over his drug addictions either.

Sarah and Todd, leave Britta alone!  You too Bristol and Willow  You harassed Mike Wooten enough.  Don't repeat it with Britta.  And please don't disparage Britta in front of Kyla like you did to Levi .  Remember the judge that warned you to stop doing that in front of Mike's kids.

When I first saw this picture I wondered if Track and Britta were on the outs:

I think this picture was originally posted on Bristol's FB page, not sure.  But then after it was all over the internet, Chuckles Jr posted this one:

Ta-da!  There's Britta!  Any proof this was photoshopped?

I bet Sarah tipped off  TMZ about this so people would ignore Dairygate.  Course that isn't the first time she has thrown her kids under the bus.

It looks like Track got the better end of the deal in the divorce

.Track Palin and his soon-to-be ex-wife Britta filed divorce docs which tick off who gets what.
-- 23-year-old Track -- an Army reservist -- gets the $30,000 Wells Fargo bank account, $500 in tools, and his $1,000 gun collection.

-- 22-year-old Britta gets her $2,500 bank account and her $4,000 in jewelry.

According to the doc, Track rakes in $42,800 a year -- and has agreed to pay $642 a month in child support. Track and Britta have agreed to split any other child-related expenses, including medical and travel.

Britta gets physical custody, and will share legal custody with Track.

Guess Track would rather have his guns than his baby.  If he made $42,800 last year and $30,000 in the bank, why such a low amount for child support?  Is Kyla really the DWTS baby?  Maybe Britta just wanted rid of him.  Track got a good deal compared to Levi.  If Britta ever takes Track to court for skipping child support, you can be darn sure Sarah will get that squashed.  Britta don't hire Rex Butler for a lawyer!

Congrats to Levi Johnston and Sunny Oglesby!

From US Weekly

Levi Johnston and his love Sunny Oglesby are bringing a whole new meaning to the term "shotgun wedding."

In early September, the couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Breeze Beretta -- after the Italian firearms manufacturer.

Now the Wasilla, Alaska native and his 20-year-old teacher fiancee are headed down the aisle. Johnston and Oglesby are set to wed over the weekend, a source in Wasilla confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
"They've been together for about a year and a quarter," the insider tells Us.

Though his baby girl is likely to be front and center, there's no word yet on whether Johnston's 4-year-old son Tripp (with ex-fiancee Bristol Palin) will take part in the ceremony.

The rest of the Palin clan will definitely not be showing up to support the former Playgirl model as he moves forward with his new love.

In the past, Johnston, now 22, has accused the Palins of keeping his son from him, ever since his bitter 2010 split from Bristol. Earlier this year he spoke to The Insider, admitting it's tough feel connected to his first-born when his time with the tot is so restricted.

When asked if Johnston blames Bristol's mother Sarah for keeping him from his son, Johnston says he's convinced the former Alaskan governor "plays a big role" in daughter Bristol's decision-making.

That's a family," Johnston told host Brook Anderson. "I know I listen to my family, so I'm sure [Sarah] does have some part in [keeping Tripp away]."

This spring, Sarah and her "first dude" Todd denied that they've ever tried to keep their grandson from his dad in an impassioned statement to TMZ.
"We have never hidden Tripp from Levi or discouraged Levi from spending time with him," the pair wrote. "Any suggestion that we have is false and contrary to our core beliefs."

Congratultions Levi and Sunny!

Word of advice, wait several years before giving Tripp and Breeze a new sibling.  As you are aware, kids are expensive.

I hope Bristol can get over her bitterness and let Tripp be a ring bearer at the wedding, but I doubt she will, not that Gino has left the coop.

Happy Anniversary to Barack and Michelle Obama!

I hope they have a great 20th anniversary and Barack delivers the best anniversary present by kicking Mitt the Shit's ass in the debates tonight.

Sorry Bristol and Willow Tim Tebow doesn't want you

From Radar Online

Tim Tebow may not have a Super Bowl ring but there's no denying that the newest addition to the New York Jets has a smoking hot body!

The controversial Christian quarterback swapped talking game plans on ESPN for a sizzling photo shoot with Vogue magazine, where he showed off his killer 6'3" physique and impressive strength by pushing a tire that was bigger than he is.

Inside the glossy magazine, Tebow, 25, opened up about his picky approach to women. “I’ve been blessed to have an amazing mom and two amazing sisters—so they set a very high standard,” said the self-confessed virgin.

“Obviously looks play a big part. Being attracted to someone plays a big part, but there’s also so much more than that for me. It’s about finding someone sweet and kind—and that has a servant’s heart," he explained.

"It’s about finding a girl who likes me for me, and not because of what I do or who I am or the name."

Born in the Phillipines to Baptist missionary parents and raised in Florida, the former Gators phenomena has been open about his desire to save sex for marriage despite having a flood of beautiful women volunteering to be his first.

I have a feeling when Tim says "servant's heart" it means a submissive woman.  I think Tebow is hot and would love to roll in the hay with him, but doesn't mean I want to marry him because I will not be submissive.

Back to the Palins.  Sorry Bristol and Willow, Tebow isn't interested in you for two reasons.  One neither one of you has a servant's heart, submissive or not, and two neither one of you are virgins.

Oh and Sarah don't bother saving Piper for Tim either.  And I don't think he wants a wrinkled old hag like you.

Happy Valentine's Day to the following couples

Wishing each of you a Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to these couples:

Here is a couple that will probably celebrate Valentine's by throwing cans at each other:

Over the past two years we have heard rumors of Sarah and Todd divorcing. As far as we know they have not. Nothing is on record of them doing so.

At Track's wedding they were not wearing wedding rings:

But at the recent CPAC convention it looked like Sarah had a band of gold on her finger:

So are Sarah and Todd back together if they split? Did Sarah marry someone else? Or did Sarah wear that ring to prove to the world she is a happily married woman?

Speaking of that pic, Willow looks like she has put on some weight. Is she preggers. And if so who's the daddy?

Sarah and Todd Palin

Sarah and Todd Palin

I'm starting a series on Sarah's relationships with individual members of her family.

Sarah and Todd only married because she was pregnant with Track, and Track's paternity has been questioned.

According to Frank Bailey, Sarah and Todd aren't like other couples in as they don't talk.

In Michael Joseph's Gross's article for Vanity Fair, Sarah and Todd have heated arguments which result in them throwing canned goods at each other.

Sarah has had affairs with Curtis Menard and Brad Hanson, and also had a fling with Glen Rice while she and Todd were dating.

It's been alleged Todd has a love child about Bristol's age in Dillingham and he has patronized hookers.

Shawn Christy says Sarah and Todd are now divorced.

Yep this is a marriage made in hell.

Happy Anniversary to President and Mrs. Obama!

From the Washington Post

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are at a celebratory dinner marking their wedding anniversary.

The Obamas arrived at Restaurant Eve, located in Alexandria, Va., just outside of Washington.

The couple’s 19th anniversary is Monday.

Congrats to the happy couple! It's nice to see a famous couple madly in love, unlike these two:

Note the distance between them
